Absolutely agree. In my experience, even though publishing in big pubs might give me more reads, it doesn't necessarily translate to more engagement—unless the topic is Medium or writing itself. Starting your own pub and interacting with your followers often leads to more meaningful engagement. Also, it would be a real oversight if Medium prioritized image choices over the quality of storytelling and creativity. Thanks for shedding light on this, Toni.
