How Do You Deal With Negative Comments on Medium?

Ahhhhhhhhhh, I’m going through a heart attack right now dealing with plenty of negative people on Medium; should you give me some first aid help and keep me writing, or are you fed up with my bullshit and want me to fuck off and rest in peace. Either way, you save me from poisonous people; my only hope is I don’t see them in hell.

Many new writers on Medium give up on the idea of writing altogether after they receive a single negative comment from a drunk rat hiding in a dark room underground. Or they got hit by an RPG missile fired by close-minded people who never took the time to read through the article, understand the point behind what the writer wanted to say, and politely respond with a civil and logical argument.

Negative and deconstructive comments can harm new writers with little confidence to write online. It took many people years and tons of thinking to develop the courage to write their first draft, and yet once they hit publish for a few days, they get a negative response, crawl back and think there is a problem with themselves.

Negative comments can poison the entire conversation, strip the joy from a community, and turn off the spirit of the article.
