How Do You Transform Your Readers on Medium
Abracadabra, I’m going to use my magical words to turn my reader from a lazy pig into a racing zebra. 3 2 1, poof! What the fuck did I do? This thing isn’t even close to a racing donkey; I guess my shitty article has turned him into a frustrated monkey.
Writers come with different flavors, skills, and voices; some are good and telling information, others are decent at inspiring people, and some are masters at crafting motivational crap. Few writers, including myself, can write to transform a weak bird into a mighty eagle.
Writing for transforming is the most challenging form of writing; you not only try to tell the reader about a fact they aren’t aware of or deny its existence, but you also have to inspire and motivate them to take an action that moves them from a shitty situation into a more fulfilling future.
Transformational writing is difficult because you have to live in the reader’s mind and see life the way they live it. You have to experience the same pain your reader live through to understand their struggling mindset the way they feel it.
You can’t transfer someone if you can’t understand and feel them; you can’t help someone if you don’t become their friend. You can’t move someone if you don’t show complete empathy toward their situation, and you can’t transform people if you don’t…
