I think people are different, and how people perceive giving is different as well. Yes, giving beyond one's comfort or giving for the sake of giving and feeling pain can feel overwhelming to many. My father had the same obligation as yours, and even though it was very tough for him, he always thought that giving was his obligation regardless of how it felt.

That's why people like your father and mine survive and strive in almost any circumstances because they are resourceful. Everyone has no choice but to respect them and stand by their side in the long run because everyone ends up indebted to them.

A resourceful person doesn't think in terms of pain. They just don't. A river will give water to all until it runs out of water, and then it stops providing. It's not because it doesn't want to give, but purely because it doesn't have water anymore. In my opinion, setting a threshold for giving eliminates the concept of giving. Again, people are different, and what I think is right, others might think impractical. But I think people who are resourceful are impractical. 💝🍫🍪
