If Medium Were for $15 a Month, Would You Subscribe?

It’s a tricky question. Don’t rush and say yes or no; I’m throwing in your face a loaded question that requires you to think deeply about value. Yes! The value you put on your writing and whether you consider it as a bunch of information or a piece of wisdom.

The standard subscription plan for Netflix in the united states is $15.99 a month. Netflix is nothing but a bunch of bullshit that wastes your time and feeds you with destructive crap, yet most people happily agree to pay $16 monthly.

When buying an online course or feeding the brain with healthy and nutritious meals, many people expect to get things for free or at a low cost. The biggest insult you could hear as a wise creator offering tons of value is that we can learn everything about life for free on YouTube; why pay for your course?

Okay, enough with whining; here is my proposal, what if Medium kept it $5 for readers and with the ability to publish two articles a month but added an extra $10 for professional writers who want to write unlimited articles, which makes it $15/month? This small fee will filter a lot of non-serious writers, decrease the number of articles, and increase the amount of money that goes to every writer, incentivizing them better for their hard work.
