Let us separate a comment that reflects an opposite point of view from a comment that attacks the writer personally and their followers. I had both, and I dealt with both differently. There are many ignorant and stubborn idiots that you can't save, no matter what. On the other hand, many people have different beliefs but are open-minded to listen and talk.
Some people know how to speak civilly; others don't know how to construct a logical argument and talk politely.
I'm not concerned about opposing forces and how they crash to create new elements. I like to get to the human level and care about the argument's logic and what the reader wants from their comment. If they are screaming for attention, let them take it; if they want to attack me personally without evidence, they insult their intelligence and sound stupid to the public.
My job as a writer is to discuss a point and accept all perspectives politely; I also have to save the mood of the discussion and protect all of my loyal readers. That's my responsibility!
If someone wants to argue with me, let it be about logic or common sense, things we can measure. If they are correct, I will crown them; anything else is a personal view. If we argue about that, the entire argument isn't worth my time because we both have different life experiences and perceptions.
That was a great question, Misbah; I appreciate your intelligent response.
