Natalie, I know you gave me permission to speak, and I'm going to use this post to talk about a problem I frequently see here, especially with the new engagement system. 🌹 First of all, I love what you wrote. You are definitely one of my best readers and among the top writers here. Just to make it clear for everyone, you're not the target of my rant. 😜
Many writers are treating other writers like retarted idiots. They either use superficial AI comments that make no sense in relation to the article, or leave a short comment that makes no sense to the piece.
When I comment on someone's piece, it's because I really liked it and found something I can relate to. I'm always on the lookout for new writers for our publication. I'm not that concerned if the other writer comes back and leaves a comment. Just don't come back to leave me a cold clap or a superficial comment by highlighting, commenting, and doing everything in a few seconds. It really shows that you are treating me like I'm an idiot.
If someone wants to use AI as an assistant for a comment, go for it. As a matter of fact, I used it to fix the grammatical mistakes in this comment. But use it appropriately, to connect and engage, to show the writer that you care. Don't just use it to spam or dishonor the integrity and work of the writer.
I have found that there are two groups of commenters and they really avoid each other. The first group are superficial commenters. Each daily post has over 70 comments, but all are superficial. The other group has around 20 to 40 comments that are genuine. It's clear that a writer like myself will always avoid and push away the first one.
A comment is a reflection of your reputation. When you leave a garbage comment on someone else's writing, it suggests that your own writing is also lacking, mainly because you've shown little interest in crafting your words to inspire a reader. A discerning writer will pick up on that and steer clear of engaging with you altogether. Every line you write on this platform contributes to your reputation. Keep that in mind and remember it whenever you're tempted to leave something unworthy on someone else's story. Bottom line; don't be desperate!
When it comes to mass tags, I now simply leave a note to remove me from the list immediately.
You're the best, Natalie, and I appreciate you time and time again. 🌹🌹🌹
