What Motivates You to Write on Medium Daily?

I’m going to write an article a day for the next thirty days; I’m so pumped up and excited about my writing journey; I’m going to start tomorrow morning; My productive life will make me strive. Yay! ✊ for now, let me watch something hot on Netflix and eat pizza!

TrrrrrrrrrrrrT⏰, shut the fuck up my stupid alarm, Wuuuaaaa🥱, emmmmm, let me sleep for a bit, damn! Why my mind keeps reminding me to write my article in my dreams; okay, brain, got it! Gonna get up now and write that masterpiece.

Let me brush my teeth first; then I will get to write my first article; Frtttt💨, oh damn, I guess I need to poop first; oh, I’m hungry, let’s order something and continue watching yesterday's show, just one episode, and I will write the article right away! Damn, that food was heavy; I’m sleepy; Zzzzzz😴. Oops, it’s already midnight; that’s okay, that’s okay; I will write the article, edit and publish it tomorrow morning. Hakuna Matata! No biggie

One year later… aww, what’s a beautiful morning. I’m going to start writing my first article, but let me brush my teeth first; you know where the story is heading.

You have to excuse me as I’m going to brag about myself a bit; writing two to four articles daily for Medium has become a habit; I don’t have to think about it anymore. Every day I assign two to four hours to write, edit and schedule new articles.

I’m financially comfortable, so the greedy earnings from Medium don’t motivate me to allocate four hours a day to write; yes, I like to write to help. Still, I’m not a prophet and have nothing to do but hold people’s hands and get them to heaven, and I also have plenty of other things to deal with, so helping others isn’t my primary motivator to write daily.

My primary motivation to write daily is to build more discipline and consistency despite my physical or mental situation. I’m writing this article and already have a fever. I will schedule this article for four days later. I already have many written articles in the pipeline, and I don’t have to write for the next few days, but writing daily despite my physical condition and shitty mood makes me a more robust businessman.

Writing every day has taught me more than another skill how to be consistent and stretch my creative memory. I don’t believe in writing blocks and bad moods. You can get inspired by a movie, a story on the street, or make a bullshit story; you can pump up your mood with a piece of rap or hip-hop music.

Let’s be honest; I didn’t start that way; I’m human like you, and I struggle as any human does; in the first thirty days, I had to push myself to write even if I didn’t like it. I started with a few hundred words and three articles a week, overtime I forced myself to turn writing into my daily routine; nowadays, if I don’t write, I would feel an itch in the ass and the urge to write even a single article.

I know many of you might lack the motivation to write daily, and some might not have the time or think you aren’t creative enough to write every day or your words don’t matter. Some are here for the money, and others are for the fame.

Throw all that crap in the toilet and flush it twice; if you want to write, write; if you wish to become a writer, that matters; you have to write consistently. It doesn’t have to be every day, perhaps every two or three days, but keep it consistent.

Don’t get discouraged by the number of followers, claps, comments, and earnings. Medium isn’t the right place to earn a lot of money for everyone; however, it’s a place to put your expertise and knowledge to people who need your help and connect with like-minded people. Suppose your writing can lift someone out of a crappy situation and make them more fulfilled in that case you have done your job as a writer.

Money and followers are only the business of Medium, and you can learn a lot about that in my other articles, but first, you have to sit and write; if you need me to motivate you, you have already lost the game.

Dear fellow wise writers, share with unmotivated writers in the comment section how you push yourself to write consistently, be honest with your purpose and what motivates you to write. I appreciate your valuable insights. Thanks
