Why Do You Write on Medium?

Okay, I have been writing almost daily on Medium for three months, and I’m starting to get a bit unclear about the motivation behind writing here. I have tried to understand the meaning of why people write here and have gone through tons of articles and comments from writers who seem to be not happy on Medium.

I found that some people write here because they believe they can improve their writing skills; however, these people seem never to accept constructive feedback or take the time to connect with other skillful writers.

Some decent writers write to help or inspire but complain about the level of authenticity of engagement. However, if I read their entire article and leave a detailed comment, they either never answer or write me thank you for reading and end it there.

Some writers say they want to make money through writing, yet they never seem to improve the quality of their content or write about profitable topics.

Ladies and gentlemen, what are we doing here? Why are we writing? Why are we spending many hours a day on Medium? Do you ever pause for a second and ask yourself why you are writing here and whether you are achieving the results you want from writing on Medium?

I have started writing on Medium as a research project to find ways for professionals to earn money while helping…
